There are many ways in which you can support the House of Mercy and all the activities we provide here. Read on to learn more about what we need and how you can help. Even if you are unable to provide money or goods, your time is just as valuable. Check out our Volunteer page for more information on becoming a House of Mercy volunteer..

Monetary Donations

The House of Mercy always accepts monetary donations. As a small non-profit, we rely entirely on donations to keep our programs running. There is no gift too small to make a difference in the daily work we do here.

You can make a one-time donation, or become a monthly donor to ensure there is never a lapse in the services we provide. Simply click on the yellow box below and you will be taken to our online donation center! If you prefer, we also accept check and cash donations which you are welcome to mail or drop off directly. In addition, as an incorporated 501(c)3 all donations made to us are tax deductible! All checks should be made out to Sisters of Mercy, House of Mercy.

To make a truly impressive difference while donating to the House of Mercy, choose to give on Erie Gives Day. Erie Gives Day is on a specific day in which donations to non-profits in Erie County registered with the Non-Profit Partnership are matched by the Erie Community Foundation. This will help increase your yield as well as help us raise even more money to support our efforts.

Some of the things your donation goes directly to include purchasing healthy food items for lunches and snacks, costs of the field trips we take our youth on, items for our special events and holidays, art and craft supplies, and so much more. If you have any questions about donating, please do not hesitate to contact us today!

Physical Item Donations

In addition to monetary donations, the House of Mercy also accepts physical donations. Several times a year we have a specific wish list of items we need for upcoming events or holidays. However, we do accept all donations throughout the entire year.

Some of the seasonal events we collect items for include our Techno Bingo every fall and Spring Tea every spring! For these events we are looking for gift basket items such as kitchen equipment, bath or beach bags, gift cards, kids toys, and more. These items allow us to have a successful gift raffle and increase the amount of money we raise at each fundraiser.

We also collect items for holidays! Every December we hold a Christmas store where students can come and pick one gift for each family member at no charge. This ensures a happy Christmas for all families regardless of income, and this past year we were able to serve over 500 students at our Christmas store at Diehl Elementary! For Easter, we collect items to put together Easter baskets and hand them out to all of the youth  in our programs.

Another large event we collect items for is Back to School! We collect backpacks and school supplies including folders, binders, notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, erasers, rulers, glue, scissors, colored pencils, index cards, and highlighters. We fill the collected backpacks with all the school supplies and pass them out to our youth. This helps ensure they start the year off right with everything they need and only have to focus on the school work itself!
